Maria's MS Journey

Hi, I’m Maria.
Founder of First Food First living symptom free with Multiple Sclerosis.
However, it wasn’t always that way.

In 2011, I was newly married and off to start my new life in Switzerland.
I began experiencing pins and needles, palpitations, and a ‘fuzzy’ head.
It felt like my body was closing down on me.

An MRI scan confirmed I had lesions on my brain and Multiple Sclerosis -but the support
seemed to end there.
As I got progressively sicker, it felt like cement was being poured down my spinal column.
At one stage, my new husband was spoon feeding me as I had no feeling from my chin
down – I felt helpless. I had a diagnosis but so many questions were left unanswered –
“Why do I have MS and how do I get rid of it?”

Naturopathy –the use of natural therapies to heal the body –had sparked my interest.
I began working with a Naturopath who discovered the root cause of my Multiple Sclerosis-heavy metal toxicity.

“Health starts with hope”

I remember mine was the day I felt my fingers for the first time in weeks. Progress was
slow but it was progress and after four years I was almost symptom free.

I thought MS would take my life, but it ended up giving me purpose and driving my
passion. Now, a registered Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist, Functional Medicine Practioner and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, I’ve founded the First Food First clinic to help others live with MS as if they haven’t had the diagnosis-the way I currently live my life today.

My story is unique to me and yours will be unique to you–everyone’s journey to their
diagnosis and experience of MS is different. But I hope it gives you inspiration and
illustrates the power that Naturopathic, Functional Medicine and a food first approach can
have on the body.
